Government gets what it was asking for!

"At the same time, it is a great puzzle how the elementary principle escaped the Prime Minister and the Home Minister..."

Does not the posed puzzle itself have a simple/elementary in-built 'resolution'!: That the puzzle is so elementary that it cannot be rightly or reasonably expected 'not to escape' them !!

'Bachelor of Arts' - (BA) ?

At a lunatic asylum:

Warden to a visiting ‘journalist’ (a BA)-

Will you believe if I tell you that old man also is a ‘BA’,  but of yester -years.

!

A very intellectual type; in fact , he was one of those very few  popular columnists – used to write in one of the leading dailies, almost  on every conceivable ‘ topic’,,

?

But one day he made the gravest mistake of his life,..

??

He decided to do some  ‘introspection’ - ... why though ‘married’ long ago he could truly continue to call himself - a ‘Bachelor’ ? – further, - 'of Arts’?

That went on and on ...for several weeks/months..

He tried to look up and understand what - ‘Arts’ really means..

He started wading through the ‘wikipedia’ ....

That proved the ‘last straw’.. within a few days he was admitted here.. that was almost five years ago..

BL 3-2-11

Unjust, inequitable, morally wrong

“Truth is - no two 'voices' could, as is ordained by the law of nature, be the 'same' in its profound sense.

The so-called 'views' and 'counter-views' are quite natural, being nothing but products of 'mindset' differing from individual to individual. Should that be factually and actually true, then the mutually conflicting concepts such as, - 'agreement' x 'disagreement', majority x minority,  'unity' x 'diversity', so on and so forth, could, in the ultimate analysis, prove themselves to be nothing but unabashed 'myths'.”

CHANGED WORLD - CHANGED TIMES

*By all means, marry. If you get a good wife, you'll become happy; if you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher. –Socrates

The hidden message is that ‘you’ should venture to marry provided you are a ‘philosopher’ even when you decide to do so. For, after all, whether you are to get a good wife or bad one is all in the hands of ‘providence’ –(i.e. prewritten / destiny).

*
I was married by a judge. I should have asked for a jury. --Groucho Marx

I was married to a judge; should I have asked for an arbitrator, if not for a ‘divorce lawyer’.

*
My wife has a slight impediment in her speech. Every now and then she stops to breathe. --Jimmy Durante

Mr Durante! You need to thank yourself- you are not alone!! Most modern wives have the same impediment; not ‘slight’, not ‘now and then’,  – often forget to stop even to breathe!!

*
The male is a domestic animal which, if treated with firmness and kindness, can be trained to do most things. --Jilly Cooper

Thanks Mr Jilly! For not calling the male an 'ass' (or 'law' - perhaps, anyone of its derivatives) - which/who mostly is not known to succumb to any so-called 'mandate' / 'diktat', even if treated with the common tactics of - firmness or more so, kindness.

 *
Don't go around saying the world owes you a living. The world owes you nothing. It was here first. --Mark Twain

Mr Mark! I understand; This seems to explain away the modern day concepts in economy - e.g. 'bad debt' and 'npa'.

*
Money can't buy you happiness, but it does bring you a more pleasant form of misery. --Spike Milligan (view)

Mr Spike! Thank God you did not have to live in our times!!

What's the use of happiness? It can't buy you money. --Henny Youngman
(counter view)

Mr Youngman! You perfectly fit into our times like a glove ..but lo...!

*By the time a man is wise enough to watch his step, he's too old to go anywhere. --Billy Crystal

Yes! It is ‘crystal’ clear; except for going to ‘where’ –he will not have to take ‘step’, - hence no need to ‘watch’ it.

'money' 'matters'; one may say so ! : BUT, SHOULD IT?

  • Abandon rule of law and pay the price Read more: Abandon r.

  • Just as anyone of the other scores of articles, columns, etc. publicized in recent times, the subject write-up , no doubt, attempts at high lighting, though at the cost of repetition, the social evil of 'corruption' . It is nobody's case that this is a matter on which there is scope for a second opinion from any 'right' thinking person. For, even a layperson can have no difficulty in sensing the hard fact that the evil is most certainly  trying to overtake  and defeat almost everyone of the so-called economic policies conceived of and sought to be given shape in the form of a 'legislation' from to time.

  • According to a view, however, : all such policies and enactments are fundamentally deficient ; so deficient that even at 'inception' they are inherently self defeating. The overwhelming reason is  that they all have one - the only one common objective; that is, 'economic development'; a deveopment at any cost- as 'divorced' from any profound 'social objective'.

As is human nature - as bluntly portrayed by a age-old village-side saying - even a corpse might come to life and sit-up if it hears the temptingly luring 'jingle of money'.
What, as lamented by a humanist-rich in wisdom- of our times, has led to such a plethorable state of affairs is - the utter failure on the part of one and all really concerned to 'realise' in all sincerity, grained with humility, -  that, -  'there is more to success than money'.

To say it, more appropriately to the context herein,  otherwise,-there is more to 'development ' / 'advancement' (in its profound sense) of a nation, than to 'economic development'.

EFFICACY OF SC's 'DIRECTIVE' v 'IMPLEMENTATION'

“A directive on the above lines by the SC will relieve the Court of the burden of monitoring and supervising investigations in individual cases.”

The suggestion coming from a person of his experience and exposure in such matters is, in my humble view, certainly worth giving it a serious consideration by one and all really concerned.

With the same breath, however, I may, for whatever its worth, pinpoint to a recent development on a related matter, as reported in the media. The reference is to -

    Judge Bench)

    (21.4 KiB, 426 DLs)

Supreme Court recalls law requiring PSUs to obtain COD approval

This, which speaks volumes on the subject, as per my reasoning, and in my perception, certainly bears out the - often- talked- about: - historically obtaining, but increasingly widening, yawning gap between – (a) what are commonly referred to as ‘facts of life’ ( ‘the reality’), and (b) the impeccably impinging  ‘practicality’.
