My random pick - choice to explore the conflict between ANCIENT WISDOM nd (OR 'vs'= X) 'modern man'
to serve as a side dish, while thinking on multiple facets /faculties of 'human kind' striving but yet to succeed in accomplishing the feet of evolving as a 'human being', as destined (or WILLED by PROVIDENCE) !
If found vague and confusing, suggest to pick up a copy of and READ intensively; and do so, in comparison to what the ancient VEDAS (including age-old scriptures, PURANA(s), and the like (=of the identical 'kind') !

IMPROMPTU (with a different stroke of thoughts, but from a societal- welfare -viewpoint) :
None can differ, but consciously agree, on the proposition that 'appeal' , -as a concept in its oldest (ancient) sense, - does not but stop of the formality of 'filing' as envisaged in man-made-law (s) or rules, fast running into numerous volumes (as fast as a 'rat race') !

The common thread, passed through : -
In the Play, -the miser's plea (appeal) was to a 'court of law' of those days, presided over by 'Daniel' of the gone-by- era; and
In the real life story (movie) the emotion-filled appeal was addressed to a right-minded police chief, who eventually, in short, conceded the reality of modern day life.
